Tutorial- easy storage tins

Todays tutorial is based around two illy coffee tins I got from my dad, which I wanted an easy way to customize without the hassle of buying paint.

Decorated storage tins!

These are really easy and great for storing make-up, jewelry and any other random bits and bobs.

Materials

Pink paper
Yellow card
As many tins as you want to decorate
Scissors
Tacky Glue
Buttons
Two felt flowers big enough to cover the lid
Felt tip pen

First of all we are going to do the lids. Paint them with glue, and press down the felt brooch, holding it in place for abput 10-15 seconds to make sure it sticks.

Now cut out two long ovals from the yellow card, and write on them what you are going to store.
Cut a strip of pink paper long enough to fit round the tin, and wide enoughto cover it up whilst leaving a gap for the lid to screw down onto.

Put a dab of glue onto the centre of the sign, and stick it on to the tin.

Decorate the tin with buttons etc.

Fill the tin up, pop on the lid, and ta-daa! An easy storage solution.

Bedroom makeover

Today was the day I finally battled that horrific beast- the mess in my bedroom. Just to give you an idea of how messy it was, look at the picture!

Aaaah, paper patterns and hats everywhere!

My sewing area is a little bit of a mess...

As is the fabric underneath it!

You can't actually get in, there's so much stuff. My trombone, schoolbag, slippers, three other bags, P.E. socks, an empty P.E. bag, school books, two jackets, one raincoat, a hoodie, a pair of shoes, some trombone mutes, several books- that's just that tiny section.

Halfway through tidying, this is what my bed looked like. Seriously, and there was more heaoed on my table and chair. I have so much stuff!

And now we come to the afters. My sewing area, neat and tidy at last.

All my crafty bits and bobs stacked nicely on the windowsill.

Beauty products galore!
I seriously have 28 nail polishes. Not sure why, as I can't exactly wear them to school...

Awesome old cars

I absolutely LOVE old cars. I think they look so much nicer than the plasticky, flashy ones of today. Like an elegant old lady. That was an odd simile, but never mind. I took this picure when I was staying down at my uncle's, and we were at a national trust property. This car was parked in front of it, and I thought I had to take a picture. Don't you love it?

Random stuff involving cute lemons and cherries

I was thinking of renaming my blog lemons and cherries- like my tumblr one. This is for two reasons, the first being pinwheel has a lot of competition in search engines, and the second that I don't really even like the name Pinwheel! Well, I do but is was just kind of random, typing in anything as I set up the blog. What does anyone think?

Don't you think these pictures are AWESOME???!!! I do, at least. And would you believe I found them just by typing in cute lemons, then cute cherries on google!

I've been doing a lot of crafty stuff recently, but I haven't been able to show you any pics of it, because my camera is broken. The batteries may have just run out, but there is never any batteries in my house. Sad face.

Have fun crafting!

Pixlr-o-matic

Today's post is all about the amazingness of pixlr.

http://pixlr.com/o-matic/

Basically, you put in a picture, and you can add all sorts of vintage effects, like borders, tones and effects over the top.

I think that it can give really nice effects, but I wouldn't over-use it!

owl always love you card

Using the tutorial from bugs and fishes, I made this great card for my dad. I added a heart shaped button the the red felt heart, and it was a really easy and a great looking project.

Also, here's  a work in progess snap of my mothers day brooch. It's a bit of a rubbish photo- I couldn't hold the camera still!- and the beautiful turquiose comes out as just blue.

Mothers day!

So it's Mothering Sunday this sunday! I thought I would make my mum a felt brooch, in a kind of orchid shape embroided with different colours of embroidery thread. Unfortunately, I can't show you any pictures, because I've lost the memory card of my camera. Sad, sad, I know. But I was wondering-

What are you making for your mum?
