It's the little things in life...

It's funny how even the smallest things in life make such a big difference. Today I'm going to show some of the little things in my bedroom that make me smile.

 My mum gave me this bag, and though it's battered, I love it to bits.

 The sequins are really amazing, and when this bag finally wears out, I'm going to steal them!

 This letter A is from my aunty, and the dotty spottiness makes me feel happy whenever I look at it. It's so bright and fun!

 I really love the art deco cards, so when I saw this calendar in a sale (mid january!) I had to get it.

 I painted this little japanese china doll at my friends birthday party, and her serene little smile is so cute and happy. It's meant to be painted the other way round, but I thought that this way loked much better.

 One of my othere friends bought these head dots for me from little India. I can't bear to use them, so I just keep them in their casing, and look at them every once in a while, when I'm feeling a bit gloomy. Their ornateness is really rather wonderful!

 And of course, my sewing space. It's a little untidy...

Guest post!

Today I did a guest post  at scratch made wife!

New bag

Today I made myself a lovely new bag, out of some gorgeous silky material. As it was a prototype, it was bound to go wrong, but that's the way the cookie crumbles! It's a messenger bag, and I used the tutorial by mmmcrafts. Click here to try it out.

The button I used is absolutely amazing. It goes so well with the fabric, and really gives some oomph! On the tutorial, it says to decorate the flap, but I didn't for two reasons.

1. I wanted to let the fabric speak for itself.
2. I'd probably mess it up, what with it being a prototype and all.

Of course, I did mess up the flap. I sewed it in the wrong way round, meaning that when I joined it up, the flap was stuck inside the outside and lining. I had to cut a hole to get the flap through, and then sew it up again. So, all in all, ot the most succesful bag ever, but I'm pretty proud of it! That's because it's the first boxed bottom I've ever tried. (Do you call it boxed? I'm really not sure!) I expected it to be really difficult and mystical, but in fact it was really easy!

5 things I love - bunting!

As you may of been able to tell from the abundance from it on my cards yesterday, I just LOVE bunting! Whether on cards, bags, purses, or just bunting, it's guaranteed to suck me into buying it. (You may have noticed that a lot of things suck me into buying them. Hmmm..) So, of course, I had to do a 5 things I love bunting. Of course I did.

                                                 

5. Multicoloured spotty bunting from the cotton bunting company is rather amazing. It's just so spotty! And triangulary! Is that even a word? I don't care!

4. It's a pencilcase... with bunting. I am longing for it, longing for it's far superior ability to hold pencils.

3. Aaah, the multicoloured amazing properties of multi coloured bunting. doesn't it just lift your mood after a hard day?

2. Bunting jewelry? Count me in! I love the nautical feel of the colours. It looks great, and the ceramic look is great.

1. I think these notecards look awesome, and the colours look really vibrant agaisnt the brown.

Mmmm... custard creams!

Don't you just love custard creams? The way the two crunchy biscuits are sandwiched together with a smooth layer of delectable, cream, the way you can gollop them down in one or nibble the top, and lick off the cream. (Or maybe the latter is just me) Anyway, to cut to the chase, today I made some custard creams. I've always wanted to, and I used Nigella Lawson's recipe.

I used some lovely cutters, the kind with a plunger in the middle where you can mark shapes onto the biscuits. And, guess what? The homemade custard creams taste even better than the shop bought ones!
